I will help you to best legally handle your DWI charges. That’s a promise.
~DWI Charges Should Scare You~
DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) is a serious offense. You could go to jail, lose your license, and face additional criminal penalties if you’re convicted.
If you fail a chemical test, your arresting officer will take your license at the time of your arrest. If you refuse to take a chemical test, the Department of Motor Vehicles will suspend your license for an additional 180 days upon expiration of the temporary license issued to you by your arresting officer. This is because Texas has an implied consent law. Also know that your refusal to submit to a chemical test ensures that you’ll pay a fine, which you don’t get refunded even if you’re acquitted.
Unfortunately, Texas is one of the worst states for motorists who are injured or killed in alcohol-related crashes.
Generally, your first DWI conviction in Texas results in a class B misdemeanor. But if you’re pulled over driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .15% or more, your first offense escalates to a class A misdemeanor. And you face jail time. If you are convicted of driving under the influence, plan to outlay cash for the hefty fines ($2,000 to $4,000) plus administrative and other fees. The fees jump to $10,000 for your third offense, so don’t even go there! Can you afford to miss work for a year — or two years for your third offense — because you’re behind bars? Don’t drink irresponsibly if you’re driving. It’s really that simple.
Of 17,434 DUI crashes, the five cities with the highest number of crashes were San Antonio: 1,845, Houston: 1,492, Austin: 1,432, Dallas: 1,310 and El Paso: 758.6.
Because Texas DWI and DUI laws in Texas are complex, you do yourself a major disservice if you don’t contact an experienced criminal defense lawyer to represent you. I am happy to help. An important tip? Never plead guilty without legal representation, as doing so ensures the removal of many of your legal rights.
